Art Meets Community Care: DArt Paints Doraville's First Bella's Blessing Box

What happens when community art meets compassion for animals?
In Doraville, the answer is a beautifully painted Bella's Blessing Box — and Doraville Art (DART) had the honor of bringing it to life.
Bella's Blessings is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is simple and powerful: to help pets stay with the families they love during challenging times. Modeled after the Little Free Library concept — "Take what you need. Give what you can" — Bella's Blessing Boxes are little free pet pantries that allow pet parents to anonymously take what they need, with no registration, no ID, and no questions asked.
Doraville was selected as the inaugural Bella's Blessings location because of the city's outstanding commitment to pet welfare — including being the first jurisdiction in Georgia to prohibit the pet store sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits, and partnering with Lifeline Animal Project to vaccinate over 4,000 dogs and cats at no cost over the past four years. The box is sited at Brook Park, 2651 Brook Park Way, Atlanta, GA 30340, with the Northwoods Area Neighborhood Association (NANA) serving as steward.
Each box is constructed from weatherproof PVC, measuring 23" tall x 27" wide, with capacity for up to 25 pounds of dry food plus treats, bowls, and toys — and each is deliberately left unpainted so that the local community can add its own unique artistic touch.
That's where DArt came in.

In true DArt fashion, our artists brought color, creativity, and cultural pride to the project, transforming a utilitarian box into a vibrant piece of community art that reflects the spirit of Doraville. The result is something neighbors can be proud of — a resource that is functional, welcoming, and beautiful all at once.
The design is a nod to the cultural richness of Doraville, and it’s fittingly titled “Feasts for Beasts.”

The Bella's Blessing Box accepts donations of unopened dry and canned pet food, treats, toys, collars, leashes, bowls, and grooming items. If you'd like to contribute, stop by Brook Park and give what you can — you never know whose beloved pet you might be helping.
