Oil on Canvas

20"x20"

The Last Painting grew from a thought I often have while working: I always find myself looking at the clock when I paint. Time is constantly present in the studio, quietly reminding me that it is passing.

Death is mysterious, and I sometimes wonder what my final painting will be. Will I know it is my last?

In this painting, the artist is shown painting the peacock from my work Final Flight. The image becomes a reflection on mortality, time, and the uncertain moment when an artist creates their final work. It is a painting about a painting, and ultimately, a meditation on what it means to leave something behind.
