Feel free to pick it up, open the locket, fold it, and read her grocery list. Just be sure to place everything back where you found it. I created this pocket altar in honor of my grandma using pieces of jewelry she gifted me before she passed, old greeting cards, and other pieces that belonged to her. The base of the piece is created using the fabric from an old shirt and pair of shorts of hers. She loved to sew and is the person who taught me how to sew and use a sewing machine. The “love granny” piece sewn on the right arm is from one of the many cards she gave me every year for every holiday and occasion. She used to say she didn’t know why she still gave people cards since they probably just threw them away, but I let her know that I had kept every single one she had ever given me. On the left side is a folded handwritten grocery list of hers in her unmistakable personal cursive. On the bottom is a sewn piece from one of her old pin cushions framed by some of her old buttons, of which she kept nearly every button she acquired.
